Fairy Floral

I don't know if I ever really mentioned this on here but last summer I travelled around Japan for one month, fulfilling one of my life long dreams. I've always been fascinated by the Japanese culture and I'v dreamt of going to Japan for a very long time. So last summer my best friend and I had saved up enough money to finally go there and had the best summer of our lifes!

Japan is full of amazing things, every little packing in the supermarket has a little character on it and everything is so...kitschy, but in an good way. It even got us so far that in the first week we wanted to buy eveything that consisted out of heaps of pink ruffles and glitter - and I'm usually not a big fan of glitter in any way. But trust me, constantly being surrounded by such things and girls dressed in the cuttest clothes ever does that to you. Sad thing is, that the clothes will never looks as cute and sweet on a European person as they look on the tiny Japanese girls.

Why I wanted to post all this is because yesterday I remembered one thing from Japan. They have these amazing Refreshing Powder Sheets which are moist and refreshing and come in the heavenly scents of Strawberry, Raspberry, Fairy Flower and lots of others that we couldn't figure out because the things were written in Japanese only. We always wondered during our time there why the Japanese women always looked to matte and fresh even though it was over 35°C and very humid when we felt like our faces were melting in the heat. Well for one thing they all carry a small towel to wipe off the sweat and then there's the powder sheets. We weren't sure what exactly we were buying as we first got outselfs a pack but were pleasantly surprised when we discovered these nice smelling sheets which not only refresh you but also leave your skin feeling clean, fresh and most important of all - matte and powdered. I've never seen such sheets in Europe but I guess it really is a Japanese(Asian) thing. Luckily, I bought a small stock before leaving and as it got 30°C yesterday I pulled a pack out and was amazed by the greatness of the Power sheets once again ^o^ I'm currently using Raspberry smelling ones <3.

only English website I could find on them

PS: Just read on that website that the sheets are actually for the body. Oh well, then maybe we used them wrong or maybe the sheets they're talking about on that website a different from the ones I have. ^o^

Tokyo: Aoyama

As I promised before, here are some pictures from Tokyo. During my 4 days in Tokyo last month I visited a very cool yet posh area called Aoyama where all the big designer have flagship stores. I just walked around in the area a bit, looking at the cool buildings that house the designer stores and the people walking around.

Tokyo Shopping: Hanjiro, Harajuku

I am going to share my favorite place to shop in Tokyo with you: Hanjiro in Harajuku.
Hanjiro isn't your regular vintage store it is a mix of recycled, reconstructed and new clothing. They also have wonderful accessories and footwear and in addition to that you get endless fashion inspiration by looking at the incredibly stylish customers shopping there. Hanjiro has stores in all major cities in Japan - each featuring unique interior design. In the two floor Harajuku store the ceiling is lined with white chandeliers and on the walls you find framed pictures of jesus and mary.
On the website you can view all the different Hanjiro stores in the 'SHOP' section. They also have a webshop where you can have a look at some of the pieces they have in store - if you manage to navigate through the Japanese only menu^o^.

Here's what I bought there:

permanent vacation

I'm back from my 4 days trip to Nice (France). What an enjoyable time that was, I came back completely relaxed (who knew 4 days could make such a difference), tanned and many happy memories.

The city of Nice is, well nice ^o^ But it's almost a bit too touristic for me and the beach there isn't really nice. So we went to a beach in a small town maybe 15min by train from Nice which was way nicer.

oh Canada...

I'm leaving for Canada tomorrow to travel around and explore the nature. I'm very excited about this but also NY Fashion Week is starting tomorrow >.<

Not only will I miss NY but I'll also not be here during London Fashion Week (Sep. 14 - 19, 2008). Ah well, I guess I have something to catch up with then.

But at least I won't miss my favorites Milan (Sep. 20 - 28, 2008 ) and Paris (Sep. 30 - October 8, 2008) as I'm back on Sept. 20.

goodbye Australia

My time in Australia is already coming to an end. After travelling along the west coast for 3 weeks, the boyfriend and I celebrated the end of our time here by attending the Big Day Out festival in Gold Coast last night before driving back to Sydney where I am right now. The festival was a lot of fun but way too crowded for my taste but it did really excite me for the festival season in Europe this wear. My flight to Tokyo leave tomorrow evening so there'll still be some time for a short visit to the city centre and maybe even some last minute shopping. I didn't get to post as much as I had intended during the past weeks, sorry for that! But I was always on the road, travelling and enjoying the amazing country that is Australia. I won't say much more now and leave you with some pictures.

down under

In less than two weeks - on the 25. of December to be exact - I'm leaving for Sydney!

The boyfriend and I are going there for a bit over 3 weeks and will then spend 4 nights in Tokyo before we head back to cold and snowy Switzerland.
We plan to travel up the east coast maybe up to Fraser Island and just explore the country. There are no fixed plans, all we have arranged so far is the rental car and our accommodation in Sydney (the bf has relatives there). I'm sure it will be an adventure and thanks to my boyfriend's 13' macbook I might be able to post from time to time during the trip.

summer sun

I know it's not even winter yet so light summer dresses, shorts and tank tops are not really on my mind.
Yet I have to get myself into a summery mood because I will be going some place very very warm right after Christmas. I'm headed to...*drum roll*...Australia!
This means I soon will have to pack my luggage. But right now all I want to wear is heavy knit wear, scarfs, gloves, tons of layers and boots. Not really suitable for 30° - 40°C =( I really need some inspiration on what to wear in that heat. I always find dressing in summer a bit difficult because everything feels too hot yet you don't wanna walk around half naked. But I'm really excited to be going there, it's actually nice to escape the cold and wet Swiss winter for a while. There will still be enough cold days left when I get back ;)
