Dallas Friday Biography

Athlete, professional wakeboarder. Born on September 6, 1986, in Orlando, Florida. Friday started out as a gymnast but tired of competing around the age of 12. After her older brother showed her basics, she quickly mastered the sport of wakeboarding-a combination of water skiing and surfing.
When she was 14, she competed in the 2000 X Games, winning a silver medal. She later won the gold at the 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2005 X Games. Friday turned professional in 2001 and soon dominated the sport. With her aggressive style and skilled execution of difficult tricks, she has won nearly event competition she entered, including the Malibu Open and the Masters Water Ski and Wakeboard Tournament. She first made it to the top of the Pro Wakeboard Tour rankings in 2003 and again in 2004 (a tie with Emily Copeland Durham), 2005, and 2006.
Friday has developed quite a following, winning number one female rider in magazine and online polls several times. She won the ESPY Award for Best Female Sport Athlete in 2004. She also received the Born to Lead Award in 2005 from CosmoGIRL! magazine.
